The Glossy Zine is developed and produced by the Brooklyn based studio, Studio Von Birken (www.studiovonbirken.com). They have taken on many projects since the discovery of their work 6 years ago but The Glossy Zine is something quite different and original. Similar like Self Service, this publication however delves more into the American social culture and its fashion environment. Though there are commercial elements that appear such as Harper’s Bazaar and Elle, playful typographic forms overlap each other to raise issues such as gun culture in teenage adulthood in suburban US. Each issue that has been developed poses subjects of social remarks such as attitudes, consumerism and vanity, evidently recurring motifs within the world of Fashion.
The Glossy Zine is beautifully art-directed and construct of bespoke typography adds to its individuality as a piece of printed material.
