SUMMARY
Swedish born, Californian Patrik Ervell has arisen since the establishment of his eponymous line of American sportswear strongly with his conceptual and innovative use of fabrics and their treatments. Citing his time during his upbringing in San Francisco and merging undertones of military and technological advancements in textiles, Ervell has developed a highly attuned range of tailoring, knitwear and outerwear pieces with a luxurious utilitarian construction. His innovative ideas, in the past having used NASA-approved gold metallic polyurethane and studio experiments with copper oxide and metal shavings appear highly unusual for a pragmatic men’s wear collection. Yet, these precocious thoughts which are forward-thinking embed his love for the spirit of craftsmanship in tailored blazers with interior silk lining, melange fabrics of wool, cotton and cashmere, reworking of windbreakers and the American trenchcoat and his archetypal staple of the club collar buttoned shirt. It may appear that his clothing range is of a paradox yet for something modern, like his shirting, remain unchanged and is in constant form. Utilising the best production methods and skills people – alpaca from Peru and Martin Greenfield Clothiers right in New York, the aesthetic of Patrik Ervell’s brand is an advocate of smartly-dressed pragmatism.
