SUMMARY
As the oldest fashion house, Lanvin is one of the most celebrated houses till this day as its long standing continuance sparks classical modern elegance in French prêt-à-porter. The artistic directorship of Israeli born designer Alber Elbaz confirms a well-rounded understanding of why a women dresses, her emotive language, her relationships, her inner and outer beauty is at the heart of Alber’s creative direction. Already with a fleeting ability in drawing feminine sketches and his dedication to working with American designer Geoffrey Beene has greatly ultilised Alber’s traditional couture and dressmaking knowledge. A modern silhouette that is both toned and voluminous with a prominent use of luxurious silk fabrics, appliqué and embroidery ties in with Alber’s instinctive vision to build a collection of clothes that is dimensionally complete. For him, a women is simply not a 2D sketch but an imperfect, beautiful human being and her set qualities. Alber Elbaz is a recipient of the International Award in 2005 by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and is recognised as one of few masterful designers to date. Alongside him is Dutch designer Lucas Ossendrijver, previously working with ex-creative director of Dior Homme, Hedi Slimane developing Lanvin’s seasonal menswear collection.
