Also a new debut runway collection designer, Karla Špetić keenly wanted to express her childhood experiences with which recounted short anecdotes that were unrestrained and even irresponsible carefree childs play was apart of growth and experience. A designer who is maturing, balancing graphic prints that are relevant and current and a particular focus on knitwear and tailoring with soften edges in frills and tie-knots. Tie knots was a recurring motif in her Spring/Summer 2009 collection and hand-drawn digital prints were captured onto black skirts and repeated floral patterns that became a pair of sheath trouser pants or a camisole blouse dress. This was an outwardly feminine collection with a sparkling sense of youthfulness and the kind of tenderness which sprouted in a crocheted dress or layered references keenly noted in sheer puffy shoulders. Soft harem pants and scalloped lapel blazer in textural black and pastel silk pink asserted the kind of intimate chemistry Karla wishes to push forward where traditional knitwear can stay modern with an infusion of pictorial prints. It was a coherent collection and one that combined linear forms with elegant proportions.
