SUMMARY
Created in 2006, Australian collaborative designers Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan realised Bassike as a platform to design essential garments that remains sensual and nonchalant. Sensitive to their Australian lifestyle, their archetypal cotton and jersey range with a primal organic base have been enhanced by an infusion of sportswear tailoring in soft wool and cashmere. Strongly focused on fabric research and development, Bassike has been distinguished by both designers’ strive for best conditioned fabrics, sourcing from Japan’s perennial crop to make their carefully aged denim. Bassike with its symbolic emblazon graphic dot and its cobwebbed like textures made into fine knitwear gives it an undulating permanence.
