People have been catching onto the work by Australian designer Jade Sarita Arnott. And unassumingly, there is a natural curiosity driving her created label Arnsdorf that is exploring narratives, moments of life experiences which has inherently informed her work. For this new season she has given a greater dimension and complexity to what she sees as modern femininity. There is a complete isolation of embellishments and what could be considered as marks of opulence; her beautiful attitude to the collection is transformed quite subtle where she has created dresses and harderned detailing, a juxtaposition with softly shaped jersey cotton and silk in symmetrical zipped shoulders and structured draping. What she wants to do is in a sense, communicate an observed inter-personal connection to designed pieces that can be interpreted laterally. Natural fabrics in particular tencel have allowed flattering forms in structured, elongated lapels in the dinner jacket and origami-like tied waists in silk. Pared pieces such as the silk jumpsuit in gold, the wide silk pant and the Dawn dress is greatly sensual. Pushing away the sore oversight of slimmed leg lines, produced denim in high-waisted flared hems in a slightly masculine shape further adds to a grounded sophistication. How she has refined her techniques in tailoring and fabric complexity has lent to an understanding that creating and transforming a story intertwined within the collection is important and her focus on soft layering and twists is a breathtaking tone. What people will believe in is her autonomous direction for clothes with immediate reflection and intimacy.

‘The Dawn’ Autumn/Winter 2009 collection with be available at The Corner Shop in Sydney and across her other Australian stockists.
